Research Interests
James Chamberlain, MD, is a national leader in the development of risk adjustment methods for use in the emergency department setting. He is the division chief of Emergency Medicine and the principal investigator for the Chesapeake-Atlantic node of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN). He is responsible for the oversight of 23 faculty and fellows, whose research interests include the genomics of acute lung injury and bone health, clinical efficacy trials and translational research, epidemiology, and health services research. Dr. Chamberlain is professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at George Washington University. After completing medical school at the University of Connecticut and pediatric residency at the University of Maryland, Dr. Chamberlain has been at Children’s National Medical Center since he began fellowship training in 1988. His research has been focused on quality of care for pediatric emergency patients.
